The Youth Ambassador for Peace Program

The Youth Ambassador for Peace Program celebrates the first ever delegation from Frederick!

Sponsored by the Frederick Sister Cities Association, The Youth Ambassador Program celebrates the promotion of citizen diplomacy through cultural understanding. This year the Frederick Sister Cities Association has elected Mr. Austin Lewis & Miss Caitlin Holtzinger as the recipients of this year’s awards. Frederick’s Youth Ambassadors will travel to one of Frederick’s Sister Cities to initiate diplomatic relationships with individuals from Aquiraz, Brazil & Schifferstadt, Germany.

Information on applications for next year’s Youth Ambassador for Peace Program will be available at the “Brazil Day” celebration – Frederick Sister Cities Association booth at the Humanitarian Causes Pavilion – location 12 at the Event’s Map. Applicants may also obtain applications on line at www.chocolategala.com. Please join us for the vesting of our youth ambassadors at the Official Ceremony at the BandShell at 4:30pm, at Baker Park.

Aquiraz/Ceara Exhibition of Arts & Crafts Expo

Don’t miss visiting the exhibition of Arts and Crafts at the Aquiraz/Ceara booth, brought to Frederick, exclusively for the Brazil Day Festival. Have the pleasure of meeting representatives from the Ceara State, including the 1st Lady, Maria Celia, who has made this exhibition possible, by bringing products from CEART (Ceara Handcraft Center), where artisans from all over the State, including Aquiraz, work and produce the legitimate regional - “cearense” handcrafts.

You can do your shopping for Xmas this year at the Aquiraz/Ceara Booth - from wicker products, macramé hammocks, straw baskets, ceramics, hand-painted greeting cards, embroidery and needlepoint, lace, candles incorporating fruit or shells and the most popular souvenir --- bottles of all sizes filled with colored sand designs depicting villages, the sea, waving palms, even one’s name.
